Can a Lead Certified Renovator test for lead paint?

Yes, once you are Lead Certified you can test for lead-based paint using one of two EPA recognized Test Kits or paint chip sampling. Either the Luxfor LeadCheck Swabs (formerly 3M) or the EscaTech D-Lead Test Kits are the only two tests that are EPA recognized. If you choose to take a paint chip sample, first make sure that your state permits it and second only send it to an NLLAP Certified Lab.
